What the heck is "slack"? In the context of web applications, Slack is a tool for companies that allows for better communication and coordination among employees. It pulls together email, chat programs, and file transfers into an easy to parse interface that makes collaboration much easier. 

But how is it different from any other app out there? What makes slack unique? Andrew Wilkinson has some ideas, and they all have to do with how slack is designed. He believes that Slack's focus on fun design, colorful interface, and fun style is the main reason people are flocking to them. After all, they're not any different than any other collaboration tool out there, but people want to experience something unique.
