A local artist, Suzanne Firstenberg, needed some help producing pieces for an art project she was making for a pop-up art studio in Washington, D.C. Her project involved a large copy of the Declaration of Independence, with artwork of the American flag composed of hundreds of names placed on top of the declaration.

We came up the solution of producing the declaration on a canvas material to evoke an old parchment; we made the flag on a 1/4” thick piece of PVC for rigidity.

The whole thing came together nicely, and Suzanne was quite pleased with the work.

Check out this video from NBC4 where Suzanne discusses the impetus for the artwork, and what it means to her. Congratulations Suzanne, for a compelling and thought-provoking project.
